Projects & stories
In aviation sustainment, a story isn't fiction—it’s an operational debrief.
Long before digital databases existed, flight-line maintainers passed down critical troubleshooting wisdom through hangar-floor stories: how a rare failure mode presented, what the manual missed, and the exact workaround that got the airframe back in the air.
At Tempest Axiom, storytelling is central to how we bridge the gap between veteran expertise and frontline execution. Through The Apex Mechanic, we capture the real-world diagnostic narratives of seasoned technicians and turn unstructured flight-line stories into structured, queryable edge intelligence. We preserve the human context behind every repair so the hard-won wisdom of one maintainer becomes the immediate capability of the entire fleet.
The Apex Mechanic Maintenance platform (beta)
Built to solve the aviation sector's most urgent vulnerability—the loss of veteran domain knowledge—The Apex Mechanic serves as Tempest Axiom’s primary knowledge-capture engine. The platform ingests real-world technician debriefs and operational troubleshooting stories, transforming unstructured flight-line experience into an air-gapped, offline-ready intelligence layer. The Apex Mechanic bridges the gap between senior Chiefs and junior technicians, driving up mission-capable rates and stopping maintenance-induced errors before they happen.

FAA Aviation safety analytics
This consulting project utilized multiple FAA and NASA datasets to analyze trends in maintenance incidents related to maintainers. Although some incidents are unavoidable, the majority are influenced by the "Human Factor," leading to an increase in incident frequency. This rise comes at a challenging time when airlines are competing against each other due to rising labor rates, fuel costs, and fluctuating consumer sentiment and price sensitivity.

Streamlining Flightline Connectivity: Empowering Aircraft Maintenance with IoT
Development of infrastructure enhancements on the flight line, focusing on expanding network ports and integrating Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This initiative enabled maintenance personnel to seamlessly access online systems, ensuring efficient and rapid processing of aircraft maintenance actions within the maintenance information systems. Through these efforts, we optimized operational workflows, reduced downtime, and enhanced the speed and accuracy of maintenance activities.
